Joint publication by LIKAT & HENKEL

An article “Properties of Novel Polyesters Made from Renewable 1,4‐Pentanediol” co-authored by LIKAT and HENKEL has been published in ChemSusChem 2019, Vol.12. This open access paper describes preparation of fully renewable polyesters based on 1,4‐pentanediol (1,4‐PDO), obtained from biobased γ‐valerolactone. Excellent product yields were observed with homogeneous hydrogenation catalysts. These bio-based polyester polyols are expected to have several applications in the CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers) market.
